I have decided to make a tradition of photographing the blossoms on the magnolia trees at the county courthouse. This is my third such photo. I’m sure folks in the courthouse saw me checking the trees for a blossom that might be easily photographed. I finally got this one and was a little astonished by the rich colors I pulled up in Photoshop (the original image was made, as always, in NEF). I used a lens I hadn’t taken out before, a Nikkor DX 18-135mm 3.5-5.6. The blossoms herald a certain time of year — the impending Blossom Festival, which takes place May 20-21. It’ll be two days of nonstop photography, but I will love every minute of it, and no doubt my lovely wife/second shooter Christa will assist with her camera.
