Reunion

We spent a few hours at the Diffee family reunion in Bismarck, AR this past weekend, near beautiful Lake DeGray. I was particularly taken with the Beaton Cemetery, next to the church where the reunion was held (also named Beaton). Covered with white gravel, with each plot decorated with various tchotchkes, yard ornaments, mementos, flags, etc., it was a very pleasant place, under shade trees — a parklike atmosphere. After the reunion, we visited a little creek where Christa swam as a child. It was pretty and the water was cold and clear (and snake-free). We then took the girls to swim at a public area on DeGray, where I slept in my folding chair. A long, good day.

We visited a nearby creek in which Christa used to swim when she was a kid. I, of course, managed to get in a little too deep, soaking my shoes, but it was worth it for the photos of the clear stream. Naturally, we kept an eye out for snakes.

I grabbed this snap of Christa holding up a "heart-shaped" rock Brianna found for her in Lake DeGray.
