Vincent, eat your heart out

The family and I made the trip to Gilliam, Louisiana (actually, more like Belcher, Louisiana, and if you want to get REALLY technical, Cairo Farms, just north of Shreveport) to photograph the Sunflower Maze, which has long been a favorite destination of Christa and the girls. It was a blazingly hot afternoon, and we arrived shortly before the magic hour, to find a gorgeous expanse of lovely yellow sunflowers basking in the June heat. We climbed a levy on the nearby Red River to gain a heightened view of the farm, and took many pictures of the girls. All in all, a beautiful trip.

Belcher, La., is a truly lovely farming community. This is the curve in the highway that leads south to the cutoff to Cairo Farms. My long shadow is cast by the western sun.
